With wonderkids popping up everywhere, only a few of them pan out to be successful. Erling Haaland seems to be one of them.

After an unbelievable hattrick in the first matchday of the 2019/20 Champions League, Salzburg’s Erling Haaland is receiving praise from all sides.

Red Bull Salzburg started off their Champions League campaign strongly with 6-2 win against the Belgian Genk.

However, the victory of the team got overshadowed by an incredible individual performance of Erling Haaland.

The youngster scored a hattrick, and it only took him 45 minutes to do so.

He’s now the third-youngest player to ever score Champions League hattrick. The names in front of him turned out to be quite good – Wayne Rooney and Raul Gonzales.

This feat earned him the Player of the Week award from UEFA.

Haaland already received broader attention earlier this year. He scored 9 goals in U-21 Danish win against Honduras back in May.

The 19-year-old is already rumored to be on the radar of elite European teams. However, Germany’s RB Leipzig is favored to land his signature due to their relationship with Red Bull Salzburg.

Amongst the other teams interested is Barcelona, who is looking for a long-term replacement for aging Suarez, with United lurking from the side.

Haaland will get his chance to shine at the biggest stage of them all. Salzburg will travel to Anfield to face the Champions League winners from the previous season, Liverpool.

Going against the world best centre-back Virgil van Dijk will be the toughest test in a young striker’s career. But nobody in Europe is ready to bet against Haaland at this point.
