Gianluigi Buffon turned 42 in January but continues to push Wojciech Szczesny for first team appearances at the Allianz Stadium.

Goalkeepers have a longevity that outfield players do not possess. Then there are those exception talents who possess it all. Gianluigi Buffon has been blessed with the combination of the two, an exceptional talent holding his own at the top of the game.

Whenever Buffon calls time on his playing career, it will be a sad day for football. With the exception of top European club honors, he has won it all.

Three Champions League final defeats must hurt but he should not have any concerns. The record Serie A appearance holder has enjoyed a stellar career.

After a year at Paris Saint Germain, his return to Old Lady has seen him add to his legend. But the time is coming close for calling him quits.

Juventus will surely be looking at the future and which players can come into to strengthen them between the sticks. Here are three players who they should consider.

Wojciech Szczesny

Juve should look inwards before dipping in the transfer market to reinforce themselves. Buffon’s departure will give Szczesny the time he deserved to cement his place in the hearts of Turin fans. Carlo Pinsoglio will be a reliable understudy to the pole.

Pinsoglio is a Juventus youth academy graduate and relishes every opportunity he gets. The duo are great pairing any manager would like to call upon. Reliable between the sticks, they can get the job done for the record Serie A winners.

Alex Meret

We would recommend Gianluigi Donnarumma but the Italy international is priced out of a move by AC Milan. The next best option is Alex Meret at Napoli. The 23-year-old goalkeeper is an Italy international with a great future ahead of him.

Napoli would make it difficult to prize him away but Juventus can wrestle him away. The Udine native can be the heir to Buffon and be faithful to the Old Lady’s cause for years to come.

Andre Onana

Chelsea want Andre Onana as Frank Lampard is not content with Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal. Sarri knows this firsthand after spending a year at Stamford Bridge. He has inside information on Arrizabalaga and Onana.

This gives the Old Lady a shoe in to sign Onana. Ajax will allow the Barcelona youth academy graduate to leave for the right price. As it stands, the right price has substantially fallen down given the coronavirus pandemic.
