The 4-0 thumping gave the Catalan side five-point advantage at the top of the league table. Real Madrid promptly brought it back to two-points with their 3-1 home win over Eibar.
There were a lot of positives in the manner Barcelona controlled the game, especially Lionel Messi. They had lion’s share of possession and also managed 10 shots. Mallorca tried but their 8 shots did not yield success on the scoreboard.
