Frank Lampard has continued from where Maurizio Sarri left, and the Blues are reaping benefits from the Italian’s efforts at the Stamford Bridge.
Maurizio Sarri will not have a favorable footnote in Chelsea fans memoirs. He left with a third place finish in Premier League and finished the season with Europa League title.
But he will not be remembered for that. For most of the season there was no sense of direction, and their beloved N’Golo Kante was played out of position. Alvaro Morata was not scoring and Gonzalo Higuain was not an improvement.
Chelsea were all over the place despite remaining in contention for top honors. They lost two domestic cup finals. But it would not be enough. Sarri would leave for Juventus but his legacy remains. Frank Lampard is profiting from his time in West London.
The 5 similarities amongst teams fielded by Lampard and Sarri are discussed here.
