Dejan Lovren was confined to a bit part role for the Reds last season and AC Milan are now in talks with the Reds to sign the Croatian.
While the rest of the Liverpool players were landing plaudits across the globe, Dejan Lovren was trying his best to be happy how far his team had come. The Croatian international had to spend most of his time on the bench as Jurgen Klopp’s side went on to lift the Champions League and almost wrenched the league crown from Manchester City.
With the likes of Virgil van Djik and Joe Gonez enjoying an amazing season, Dejan Lovren had to settle for a place in the bench. After playing just 13 times for the Champions League winner, the former Olympique Lyon man should look for a fresh start.
At the age of 29, Lovren can offer a lot. And according to Daily Star, the Croatian international could be subject of a bid from AC Milan. According to respected Italian journalist, Nicolo Schira, Lovren might be looking to pounce on an opportunity to sign the experienced centre-back.
“The #Milan insists on Dejan #Lovren for defense,” he tweeted.
“Contacts with the entourage of the Croatian central station leaving the #Liverpool.”
AC Milan are keen on signing a defender this season and with the club also prioritizing balancing their accounts, the former Southampton man could be a cheap yet great solution.
With only 12 months left in his contract and his situation at Anfield pretty much obvious, Dejan Lovren might also not be against the idea of switching leagues this summer.
And with Jurgen Klopp having already signed Sepp van der Berg, Lovren might fall further down the pecking order. A move to AC Milan would be something that would suit the Croatian since he would get a lot of chances to play regularly.
