Lucas Torreira admits he’ll need to consider his Arsenal future amid reported interest from Serie A club AC Milan.
Torreira had a sound first season at Arsenal, playing a big role in the club’s 22-match unbeaten streak and run to the Europa League final. He even earned comparisons to club icons Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva.
Fast forward a year later, however, it’s been a different story altogether. While Lucas won his first trophy in the FA Cup, he’s struggled for regular game time.
Perhaps the biggest sign over his place in Mikel Arteta’s plans was when the Arsenal manager left him benched in last weekend’s FA Cup win against Chelsea.
The Basque coach had a clear preference for Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos in central midfield. Although the latter’s loan deal from Real Madrid has expired. Matteo Guendouzi, meanwhile, looks likely for a summer exit as well.

Despite the potential of more minutes for next season, though, Torreira could still leave with AC Milan reportedly keen.
“Today I need to think about my future very well,” he told Uruguayan radio station Sport890.
“I have a contract with the club and I have to respect it, obviously, if I have to leave it will be for the best.
“We have to be calm and wait.”
The Telegraph recently reported that Arsenal could sell Torreira, Guendouzi, and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to raise funds for the summer transfer window.
