Ada Hegerberg wins first Women’s Ballon d’Or

The Norwegian striker has been awarded for her excellent performances with Olympique Lyonnais in the French league

23-year-old forward Ada Hegerberg has won the first Women’s Ballon d’Or by French magazine France Football.

The Olympique Lyonnais footballer was among the 15 players on the magazine’s shortlist.

“I don’t have words, it’s amazing,” told the press according to Goal.

“This is a great moment for me. I want to say thank you to my teammates. It would not have been possible without you, thank you!”

Aguero clarifies Balon d’Or comments: “Messi is my pick”

Sergio Aguero has clarified comments he made on the 2019 Ballon d'Or winner by insisting that "no one other than Lionel Messi will be my pick".

“Thanks to the technical staff, and to my club. And to one man in particular, Jean-Michel Aulas, our president. Thank you for everything you do for women’s football,” she added.

“Please, believe in yourself!”
