AFC Ajax is the new Eredivisie champion this season

After a complicated season in which they competed against PSV all season, AFC Ajax finally won the Eredivisie title with a win vs De Graafschap.

AFC Ajax are the new Eredivisie champions of the 2018-19 season, they completed the double in a very successful season.

The Dutch squad was fighting against PSV Eindhoven this Wednesday to win the trophy.

Ajax was three points ahead of the “Farmers” but they still needed to win at De Graafschap’s territory in order to lift the title.

PSV Eindhoven played against Heracles at home and won 3-1, everything was down to what Ajax could do in this match.

The visiting squad began their conquest for this trophy with a beautiful goal by the free-kick specialist, Lasse Schone.

The Danish midfielder scored a beautifully curled effort that gave Ajax the initial advantage.

Just before half time thought, Bahoui set up Youssef El Jebli to score the equalizer.

This gave the match a little suspense but Ajax was determined to leave this match as the new Eredivisie champions. Erik ten Hag’s team scored the second goal a minute before the break after Ziyech’s assist.

The Argentine left-back only had to push the ball inside for this second goal, but the game was far from over.

After half time, Ajax came back with determination and they took some time to get what they were after.

Frenkie de Jong was taken down inside the box with 25 minutes still left on the clock, a penalty was awarded for Ajax.

Dusan Tadic increased his already impressive goal-tally with a perfect penalty goal, Ajax was securing the result with this goal.

But there was still some time to play, and the visiting squad wanted more goals in order to secure the title.

With only four minutes left on the clock, Dusan Tadic scored a beautiful solo goal that gave Ajax the final 1-4 victory and the Eredivisie title.

Erik ten Hag’s squad celebrated the title right there on De Graafschap’s stadium with joy.

UEFA Champions League Group H – Preview

And finally, it's time for our final Champions League group preview, as we have a look into the Group H.

PSV Eindhoven held until the very end of the season but they weren’t able to retain the trophy they won during the last tournament.

This Ajax squad completes the double this year after they also won the Dutch Cup trophy a few weeks ago.

Their Champions League run that took them all the way to the semifinals will also be remembered as a great achievement this season.

We need to stop an appreciate what this Ajax squad has done for football this year, they were the absolute underdogs in European football.

This is the last we’ve seen of this Ajax squad.

Given how little power they currently have in European football, AFC Ajax won’t keep all the players inside the squad next season.

They already sold Frenkie de Jong to FC Barcelona and they are about to sell Matthijs de Ligt to the same club, but that information isn’t confirmed yet.

That’s not all, AFC Ajax is also thinking about selling other key players from this squad.

The names that are currently being considered to exit the club are Nicolas Tagliafico, Donny van de Beek, Hakim Ziyech, and David Neres.

All of these players were absolutely essential for the club this season and they all have chances to continue their careers in new clubs.

Another possibility is that manager Erik ten Hag could also leave the institution next summer, the rumor is that Bayern Munich wants him to coach the club next season.

However, the Dutch manager recently stated that he wants to continue at Ajax for one more season.

We certainly have to give credit to this manager, who truly did a wonderful job this season with this outstanding group of players.
