Jorginho’s agent shut down talk of another Maurizio Sarri reunion in joining Juventus by insisting the midfielder has long-term plans at Chelsea.
Following Sarri’s shock move from Chelsea to Juventus in the summer, Jorginho’s time in England was in doubt.
The 27-year-old playmaker endured a relatively difficult first campaign of English football last season. Although he did still remain a firm favourite of Sarri’s, with the Blues coach handing his old Napoli star 54 appearances.
But a Turin move never materialised for Jorginho, who has instead thrived under Sarri’s Chelsea replacement Frank Lampard. In fact, fans even chanted his name during recent a Premier League match at Norwich City.
And now his agent, Joao Santos, has shut down talk of a Juventus move for the Napoli supporter.
“On August 31st I was with him in London, we watched Juventus-Napoli together. It is complicated to lose this way, but I see a more competitive Napoli,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“If Sarri has tried to take him to Juventus? No, nothing like that has happened. We have a medium-long term project at Chelsea, as we did with Verona and Napoli.
“There are five years of contract and we say he would like to stay there for at least four more.”
Jorginho has started in all four of Chelsea’s opening Premier League games this season, and scored the match-winner in Italy’s 2-1 victory at Finland in a Euro 2020 qualifier last Sunday.
Lampard will obviously hope the Brazilian-born star can continue his fine form for Saturday’s trip to Molineux for a Premier League encounter with Wolves.
Having managed just a single win in four games, victory is a must for the struggling Chelsea who sit 11th in the standings on five points.
