Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has now confirmed that he is interested in bringing Daley Blind back to the club this summer
The Netherlands international will be able to leave Manchester United this summer due to no longer being a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
But Red Devils are not willing to sell Blind, who has another year left on his current deal, cheaply and are keen to recuperate some of the £13.8m they forked out for him in the summer of 2014.
After months of being linked with resigning of their former star, Ajax have now finally confirmed the speculation.
“[He is] is a player with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team,” said Ten Hag, according to Sky Sports.
“He is a stable personality. Just like the arrival of Dusan Tadic, this also counts as a considerable effort of the club. We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties.
“He can handle both positions well, both as a central defender and as a controlling midfielder.”
While a key player in Mourinho’s first season in charge of United, Blind has gradually fallen down the pecking order under the Portuguese and was restricted to just a total of seven league appearances last term.
