Manchester United and Real Madrid are the two clubs showing eagerness to sign Donny van de Beek, reveals Edwin van der Sar.

Ajax became a victim of their own success as clubs all around Europe started taking interest in many of their players following their remarkable run to the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.

Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong headed to Juventus and FC Barcelona respectively before the start of this season while Chelsea recently scooped up Hakim Ziyech.

The future of fullbacks Nicolas Tagliafico and Sergino Dest and goalkeeper Andre Onana remains to be a question with each of them being linked with moves abroad.

One of the remaining pillars of his side’s recent successes, Donny van de Beek has also gained much attraction. Real Madrid were rumored to be leading his chase until Manchester United emerged as surprise candidates.

A recent report even suggested that Man United have opened talks with Ajax over Van de Beek’s potential summer move.

And Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar has admitted that both the La Liga and Premier League giants indeed are interested in signing the talented midfielder.

“It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek,” Van der Sar said told Dutch broadcaster NOS.
