Ajax really think they can eliminate Real Madrid today

By just looking at Frenkie de Jong’s face last Monday at the Santiago Bernabeu, we can see that Ajax actually think they can eliminate Real Madrid.

We are just hours away from the Real Madrid vs Ajax Champions League Round of 16’s second leg, a crucial match in which Los Blancos have the aggregate advantage but they come with their confidence on the floor.

Santiago Solari’s squad had a long meeting in Valdebebas this past Monday where the players discussed their situation alongside the manager, both Solari and captain Sergio Ramos were very straight forward with all the players as they took turns to talk about the crucial moment they are about to live.

The situation they are going through this season has nothing to do with the one they lived in the past three years, Los Blancos did hold the stretch all the way through the end of February this time but they are not feeling very confident for the upcoming Champions League match against Ajax.

The Spanish giants know that they are facing a squad that has evolved throughout the years in European football, this is practically the same base that already reached the Europa League final back in 2017 but lost it against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

A very competitive Dutch squad that is filled with very talented players, one that cannot be underestimated on Tuesday.

Given how poorly Los Blancos performed against FC Barcelona last week, this Ajax side is feeling very confident with their options to actually make a difference and end Real Madrid’s title hopes once and for all.

All we need to do is look at Frenkie de Jong’s face during this Monday’s training session that the Dutch squad had at the Santiago Bernabeu, the most recent FC Barcelona transfer is already savoring the moment in which he can play against Los Blancos and possibly get to eliminate them from their fetish competition.

Getting a win like this on his resume just months before officially becoming an FC Barcelona player is something that the Catalan club would love, something that De Jong himself would love to do later today.

During the first leg of the competition at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, De Jong wasn’t able to play to his full potential because he was coming from an injury that didn’t let him display all his offensive football but things are very different now.

Capello says if Juventus sign de Ligt, they will surely be champions again

The 19-year-old Ajax wonderkid has been heavily linked with the Italian champions, but he hasn't decided yet where to go.

Real Madrid players know how dangerous this midfielder is, they also know how motivated he feels and their meeting from this Monday was also to discuss the dangers of playing against him.

Another major talent that Los Blancos have to worry about is Matthijs de Ligt, the young centre-back who is already proving that he is one of the best in the world and will possibly sign a contract with FC Barcelona as well next summer.

This player seems destined to form the best pair of defenders in the world alongside Virgil van Dijk, a match like this is a perfect opportunity to showcase his full potential and remind the world that he truly is one of the most coveted players in Europe.

The most worrying aspect of this Real Madrid side that is about to play the upcoming match against Ajax is the finishing, they do have players with the skill to score goals but many of them are extremely tired for playing most games of the season and others are simply too inexperienced to perform at their best in the Champions League.

Who knows, maybe Real Madrid doesn’t go through any trouble against the Dutch squad later today, but the fans are really nervous for what could happen as they have completely lost faith in the whole squad.

But then again, Real Madrid tends to become stronger when people doubt them the most and they usually deliver great performances in the most unlikely scenarios.
