During an interview with Goal, former striker Alan Smith described the best features that make Son Heung Min a very desirable player.

Now that Son Heung Min is not present for Tottenham Hotspur during such challenging times for the club, former striker Alan Smith wanted to remind everyone just how important the South Korean player has become for English football.

With Harry Kane gone for the better part of the next two months due to an injury, one would expect that Son Heung Min could take the lead at Tottenham Hotspur and be the decisive player who has everything to replace the England skipper.

The problem lies on the commitment that Son has with his national team, South Korea already spared him from military service last summer after the forward helped them win an international trophy against other Asian National Teams and now he feels indebted to them.

This new chance at life has awakened a whole different Son for all Premier League fans to enjoy, a versatile player who has many different qualities to offer and someone who could be a favorite amongst all the managers from top tier football in England.

Former striker Alan Smith described the South Korean player better than anyone, he thinks that Spurs have a truly great forward on their hands.

When asked during an interview, Smith spoke about Son with very kind words: “Of course, I believe any manager in the Premier League would take Son,” Smith said to Goal.

“He has such a good attitude, even when he plays as a substitute. It’s what any manager wants from a player. He has a wonderful attitude, skill, goal scoring abilities. It’s great for Spurs to have him now.”

“The great thing from him is that he can play in so many different positions. It means he understands the game, especially the positional side of the things. When Kane is not there, Son can play there. He can also go to the left, and right.”

“Also, he can finish chances with both feet, which is a great asset for any striker. Of course, confidence is a massive part. It seems he’s flying at the moment. He’s a very quick player and I believe, physically, we’re seeing the best from him now.”

“He had a great appetite for the game. He didn’t look like he’s scared of anything. In his first season with Spurs, everything wasn’t clicking and his confidence looked low but still, you could see the ability was there. He already showed that in Germany,” he added.

Now that Mauricio Pochettino has been able to get the absolute best out of Son Heung Min this season, the Argentine manager cannot wait for him to come back from the Asian Cup and start helping the squad.

Tottenham Hotspur was fortunate enough to win their last Premier League match without either Son or Kane for the first time this season, they managed to get that victory thanks to a nail-biting Harry Winks winner that he scored at Fulham in yet another London Derby that the squad had to play.

The bad news about this last match was that Dele Alli fell injured and will miss at least six weeks of competition, this means that Tottenham cannot wait to have a player like Son Heung Min back from the Asian Cup in order to help them up front.

As of right now, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will have to play against Chelsea, Crystal Palace, and Watford without the forward. As the Asian Cup continues, Son’s South Korea is set to play the Round of 16 against hosts Qatar on Friday, January 25.

Every single Tottenham fan will be watching that game, hoping that Son’s team gets eliminated early so he can return to them soon and unharmed.
