Jordi Alba says he does not like to see the Barcelona fans losing their patience with the team.

FC Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has hit back at his own fans for their disrespectful behavior during last night’s match against Real Sociedad in La Liga.

Lionel Messi‘s goal from a spot-kick late in the game was enough as Barcelona continued to put pressure on rivals Real Madrid in the title race.

The Catalans thought they had doubled the lead when Jordi Alba converted from close range following a quick counter-attack led by Messi and Ansu Fati. But the VAR deemed the goal offside.

Alba, who was upset by the fans’ jeers, celebrated his goal by cupping his fingers to his ears in front of his own supporters.

“No one likes it when the crowd is against you. Even more so at your own stadium,” he said after the match, according to Marca.

“I respect the whistles, but they also have to respect me. No one likes playing badly or how we’re playing at the moment. But whistling in the 15th minute with the score at 0-0 doesn’t please me.

“I respect the Barcelona fans a lot. They still supported the team after the Champions League defeats [to Roma and Liverpool].”
