Liverpool legend Steve Nicol thinks Thiago Alcantara will bring quality to the Liverpool squad but would not be in the starting eleven.

The Spanish international has been almost ever-present in the Bayern Munich midfield since his arrival from Barcelona back in 2013.
With only 12 months left on his contract with the Bavarian giants, Jurgen Klopp views the midfielder as the kind of player that could bring some muscle yet Barcelona style finesse and quality to his midfield.
A player that can help as he bloods some more of his prodigious youngsters again next season.
Speaking to ESPN FC Nicol likes the idea of a player with such experience and quality coming into the side to generate competition. However, he does not see him being more than a squad player.
“I’d like to see him at Liverpool because that would mean he’d just be strengthening the squad and strengthening the competition for places.”
“If they do sign him, I don’t think he walks into the team. I don’t think he is in the starting eleven.”
“But yes absolutely, the more quality you have and the more competition you have for places.”
“At the very least, it keeps everybody on their toes.”
