The last time Granada defeated the Blaugrana was on April 12, 2014, when Lucas Alcaraz was coaching the Granada team.
Lucas Alcaraz hasn’t worked as a manager since he December 2018 when he coached Real Zaragoza.
But one of the best memories he has is when his team defeated one of the best teams in the whole world: Barcelona.
This was back on April 12, 2014, and the former Granada coach remembered that win.
“I remember almost everything,” Alcaraz told Radio MARCA Granada.
“It was a very long match and it was very difficult to compete.”
He explained: “As an anecdote, I will tell you that in the 80th minute my assistant told me to make a substitution to disrupt the match, but I had the feeling that if we took off a defender we would not win the game.”
“Then, in the 86th minute, [Jeison] Murillo got injured and [Diego] Mainz came on, and in the 90th minute our full-back’s foul saw him clash heads [yet we were able to hold on].”
“The clash between Neymar and Manuel Iturra ended with a fight at half-time,” he added.
“Neymar is as good a player as he is hard to bear, but he hit Iturra who is also very brave.”
“I even remember that in the previous match we lost Roberto in goal and finally [Oscar] Karnezis was decisive,” he said.
“[That record] isn’t going to live forever,” he stated.
“Hopefully this year they will beat Barcelona, Real Madrid, and everyone.
“I trust our team a lot because we see the trajectory and I don’t remember a bad game,” he concluded.
