AS Roma are reportedly on the verge of finally tying down Alessandro Florenzi to a new long-term contract, claims Calcio Mercato

The Giallorossi have spent months attempting to tie down the future of Florenzi with both Manchester United and Barcelona having expressed an interest in signing the full-back in the past.

But Roma are determined to hold on to Florenzi and they view him as the natural successor to club legend Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi.

However, the capital club were hit with a big blow when Florenzi demanded an improved deal that would see him earn more than Roma were offering him.

But there has now been a new development in the contract saga with both player and club having reportedly reached an agreement to extend Florenzi’s stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

An announcement is expected soon with Florenzi set to earn €2.8m a year plus bonuses in a five-year deal.
