For Djamel Belmadi it was just as simple as closing down space where wingers Ahmed Musa and Samuel Chukwueze play for the Super Eagles.
Algeria defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the Africa Cup of Nations Semifinal to advance for the first time in 29 years to a continental final.
And the Desert Foxes coach Djamel Belmadi explained how his side was able to win against the Super Eagles.
“We had to make a plan for Nigeria. We know that they used [Ahmed] Musa and [Samuel] Chukwueze directly with a lot of paces,” Belmadi told the media according to Goal.
“We tried to close those spaces.”
He explained: “Musa’s pace is so impressive.”
“He was the most dangerous player in this team.”
“I also know that their defenders are very good, but not very fast,” the manager added.
“If you run at them, they struggle.”
“We know that it would be a tough game because of the tough match against Cote d’Ivoire three days ago and because of the quality of the opponent,” he concluded.
Algeria will play against Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations Final this Friday.
It's a date then…
