The Qatari national team striker is happy after his team qualified to the Semifinals of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup after defeating South Korea.
Qatar national team forward Almoez Ali believes his nation can continue making history in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.
For the first time ever, the Qatari has qualified to the Semifinals of the competition, after defeating South Korea on Friday.
And the striker believes they can continue their good run against hosts nation the United Arab Emirates.
“We are proud of this,” he told The Gulf Times.
“We’ve got to thank the players for implementing all of the coach’s instructions.”
“We hope not to stop at the semi-finals and continue beyond that,” he added.
“It’s a great feeling but it’s thanks to the boys’ efforts.”
“They did not concede a single goal so I’ve got to score up front in order for them to feel comfortable at the back,” he said, as he has scored seven times in the competition.
“We are one of the best four teams in Asia at this very second, (but) we respect all teams and will be ready.”
The Asian Cup Semifinals will take place on Monday and Tuesday.
Tomorrow Iran will play against Japan to decide one of the finalists, while Qatar takes on the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday in a game charged by politics, culture, and pride.
