The reliable Liverpool goalkeeper is recovering from a calf injury he sustained at the beginning of the season.

Alisson’s injury was expected to be a big blow to Liverpool’s ambitions at the start of the season.

However, the Reds managed five wins in five matches at the start of the Premier League. Adrian took the posts and made them their own.

Even though Alisson was properly replaced for a short period, Liverpool fans are still awaiting the comeback of their Number 1 goalkeeper.

The Brazilian won the Copa America this summer with Brazil, making some excellent saves to keep Brazil ahead.

Alisson sustained an injury on the opening day of the season, in a 4-1 win against Norwich.

Even though Adrian is doing a solid job, only one clean sheet is a reason to worry for Jurgen Klopp.

In an interview with Liverpool’s official website, Alisson talked about the prospect of returning to the pitch, saying:

“I’m in a good way, I think we are nearly there.

“I can go outside to the pitch to do some goalkeeper work and I feel very well.

“I feel confident and I think now it’s just about getting all my power, all my confidence to come back and do what I love to do.

“It’s massive [being fit enough to work outdoors again] because if I look back, two weeks ago I couldn’t even walk properly. Now I’m running, jumping on my right leg that was injured so I’m really happy for that.”

Alisson also noted that he misses playing a lot:

“It’s great. When you are a player you want to have the contact with the ball, with the guys on the pitch, the routine of training. It’s what I love to do.

“The games, the atmosphere at Anfield, the away games, all games when I watch on the TV, I just think how I want to play, I want to be there, I want to help my team-mates. I’m looking forward [to being back], I can’t wait any more!”

The Brazilian goalkeeper also had some words of praise for his temporary replacement, Adrian:

“I think the boys are doing very well, all the team [and] Adrian especially.

“He’s a special guy who came late in the season, he just came and shows everyone his value, not just as a player but as a person and that is the more important thing.

“He is doing very well on the pitch. I have peace to recover in a proper way so it’s better for everyone.”

Klopp’s men will look to continue the good form, as they currently have a five-point lead of reigning champions, Manchester City.
