Dele Alli admits that Tottenham Hotspur was arrogant and overconfident against Manchester United.
Spurs, on the other hand, displayed a lacklustre performance that was thought to have been banished along with former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
After the game in his post-match interview with Spurs TV, Tottenham’s Dele Alli believes the problem was not a footballing one, but more about his team’s attitude.
“It’s difficult when you lose to take any positives.”
“We know what we had to do.”
“We had to match their energy. “
“We lost the game not by them outplaying us – just attitude.”
” We weren’t hungry enough and we were slow to every second ball, losing 50-50s.”
“Maybe it was a little bit of arrogance and overconfidence.”
“We’ve been playing well.”
“You have to have confidence and arrogance in games like this but have to use it in the right way.”
Alli has been back to his best since Mourinho took over at Spurs, and while he did score a delightful goal, his performance was lacking.
