It’s safe to say so far so good for Xabi Alonso as he is enjoying life being a football manager.
When the Spaniard called time on his playing days in football, like so many others, he ventured into the world of management.
Alonso has not jumped in at the deep end though.
he is working his way up the ladder.
He spent a year as a youth coach at Real Madrid and is now the manager of the Real Sociedad B team.
According to an interview with L’Equipe, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid star was a little unsure to start with, but has now got the bug and is enjoying life on the bench.
“At first you don’t know how it’s going to be.”
“But then I got caught up in the match.”
“It’s like an itch and then you say: ‘F***, I like this!'”
His Sociedad team sits fourth in their respective league. With Alonso picking up 27 points out of a possible 42 so far.
