Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has joined Los Blancos on a year-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain after Keylor Navas left the club.
French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has been playing professionally since 2010 when he debuted for Paris Saint-Germain B.
In 2013 he moved to the senior squad but has been loaned four times.
His first loan was to Lens in 2013, then Bastian in 2014, and Villarreal in Spain in 2015.
But after three years with PSG, he has been loaned out for a year to Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.
“The Frenchman arrives in Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a year-long loan with Keylor Navas heading in the opposite direction,” wrote Marca.
“Areola underwent his medical examinations last weekend and arrives at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to provide backup for Thibaut Courtois.”
Marca explained: “The 26-year-old is no stranger to LaLiga Santander, having defended Villarreal’s goal in the 2015/16 season, playing 37 games and conceding 32 goals.”
“Those respectable numbers contributed to his return to PSG, where he has been playing for the last three seasons.”
