There’s been little debate about Gareth Southgate since he took the England job after the Sam Allardyce furore.
The Three Lions boss has regularly gotten his selections spot on, with few questioning his decisions. Their excellent performances have often helped that enormously.
Yet, there are some questionable absences here. How James Maddison, who has shone for Leicester City all season and finished the campaign with seven goals and assists, is anyone’s guess.
He, as well as the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, must be questioning what they have to do to get their chance.
