Hugo Lloris received plenty of criticism for his performance in the midweek defeat to Chelsea. It was his error that led to Kieran Trippier’s own goal and handed victory to Maurizio Sarri’s side.

It raised further questions about the Frenchman, who appears to have been on the decline for several years.

It may not have been the most difficult of saves to make, but he did it nonetheless. The fact it denied Arsenal a victory and the chance to close the gap on their rivals will have made it even sweeter. A lousy week has slightly improved for him.
