Carlo Ancelotti insists his task at Goodison Park is to turn Everton into contenders for the Premier League title.
Carlo Ancelotti is a serial winner. Be it AC Milan, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, or PSG he has lifted titles, cups, and championships.
Taking the job at Goodison Park was a brave challenge for Italian tactician to accept, as winning anything was no more than a pipe dream for the Merseyside club when he arrived.
European football is still something that the club would like to have on a regular basis, but the odd foray into continental waters would be appreciated.
Speaking to Sky Sports he insists that he wants to win titles and build something long term with the Toffees.
He knows it will not be easy and certainly not a quick fix.
“Everton has to be competitive and fight for the first position of the Premier League with Liverpool, with Chelsea, with Tottenham, with Manchester United, with all the big teams.”
“I don’t know how long it takes but I hope that soon we are able to compete.”
“We have a young squad with young players with a lot of skills, a lot of ability. I think just the fact that we can improve this skill and this ability can give us more opportunity to stay at the top.”
“I think that Liverpool did a fantastic job in the last five years, when Jurgen came, and year-by-year they improved their squad.”
“I think this is the way that we have to follow, to improve the squad year-by-year.”
The winter transfer window was a bit of a bust for Ancelotti. Perhaps some of his targets may be more apt to move to Merseyside this summer.
