New Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has been officially unveiled at the club and revealed “many reasons” played a factor in his final choice and that he is looking forward to the prospect of challenging Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus in the Serie A
The former AC Milan and Real Madrid manager was appointed as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement at Napoli in May after being out of work since September last year, when he was fired by Bayern Munich for their poor start to the season.
The Light Blues are hoping that, with a proven winner in Ancelotti in charge, they can go one better in the upcoming campaign after coming so close last season in their battle for the Serie A title with eventual winners Juventus.
For someone who has enjoyed a prestigious managerial career, the move to Napoli seems almost like a step backwards for someone like Ancelotti.
But the 59-year-old thinks otherwise.
“What convinced me to accept Napoli’s offer? So many reasons,” said Ancelotti, according to Football-Italia.
“Napoli believe in me and my abilities. I also had the desire to find an interesting project, one that had the scope to grow.”
Evedentally the Italian tactician still has plenty of desire left in him and can’t wait to face Ronaldo in Italy.
“The objective is to compete on all fronts,” he said.
“Ronaldo? Italian football greatly benefits from his arrival. For us, it’s a great source of motivation.
