Italian legend Andrea Pirlo speculated on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future plans which could consist of a return to Manchester United or an MLS move.
Upon completing a €112m move from Real Madrid, Ronaldo ended his first season at Juventus by winning the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has since confirmed plans to remain at Juventus next term.
However, speculation continues to steadily grow over Ronaldo’s next destination despite being contracted at Turin until June 2022.
Once his deal at Juventus expires, Ronaldo will be 37 years old and could be ready to hang up his boots. Although the Portuguese superstar has previously suggested he could continue until 40.
And Pirlo reckons there could be one last great adventure for Ronaldo.
When asked if that could be at Ronaldo’s old club United, Pirlo told Daily Mail in New York: “I don’t know.
“He has two or three years on his contract with Juventus and after then it’s possible that he comes to the USA or to another country.
“I was very happy to play here [in America]. It was an important experience for me, for my family.”
Ronaldo finished his debut campaign at Juventus on 28 goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
He has now won league titles in three different countries in England, Spain and Italy.
Pirlo added: “I was surprised [when he joined] because it’s very difficult to get Ronaldo to Juventus but it’s important for Serie A.
“He improves the league, he improves the other teams. It’s important for the country.
“We hope that Ronaldo is a trendsetter and more big names will follow him.”
