Andres Iniesta opens up on what makes Lionel Messi ‘unique’

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has revealed how Lionel Messi is no ordinary player after witnessing his incredible talents first-hand for most of his career.

The Argentine superstar has been bestowed with supernatural gifts from the football gods themselves ever since making his Barcelona debut in November 2003 as a mere 16-year-old.

Messi’s tight control, knee-buckling turn of direction and velocity has proven to be a troublesome combination for defences over the years, with even former team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic labelling him as “one of a kind”.

And now Iniesta, who spent most of his entire 22-year Barcelona career playing with Messi, has opened on how he’s never grown tired of watching the five-time Ballon d’Or winner in action.

“He has been making difficult things look easy for years, which is something that very few people can do,” said Iniesta, according to Marca.

“It’s hard, but he always delivers something new.

“I shared practically my whole career with him and seeing him train and play meant I could enjoy how he constantly did new things.

“After so many years, he still continues to do amazing things.”

Furthermore, the former Spain international discussed what separates Messi from normal players.

“It’s about things that you can’t see. Beyond doing different things, you can see how special he is just by the way he touches the ball.

“When he does it you know it will be perfect.

“He’s unique.”
