A fuming Neymar slammed his young team-mates for lacking “more ear than mouth” following Paris Saint-Germain’s shock Coupe de France final defeat to Rennes.

PSG, who were chasing a fifth consecutive title on Saturday night at the Stade de France, went ahead through Dani Alves’ 13th-minute volley.

Neymar then doubled PSG’s lead just eight minutes later to set the club on route to victory. It was also the former Barcelona star’s first start since he sustained a foot injury in January.

But, to everybody’s amazement, Rennes staged a comeback to take the final into extra-time. Presnel Kimpembe’s own goal set the Bretons on their way before Mexer’s header completed the recovery.

Kylian Mbappe, who hit the post from close range, was then shown a red card in extra-time as 10-man PSG eventually lost 6-5 on penalties.

Speaking afterwards, a frustrated Neymar called on his young team-mates to listen to the more senior members of the squad.

“We need to be more like men in the dressing room, we must be more united,” said Neymar, according to ESPN.

“I see a lot of young players who are, not lost exactly, but they lack more ear than mouth.

“They must listen more than they talk. Sometimes a more experienced guy speaks, and they answer back. The coach himself speaks, and they retort. This is not how a team goes far.

“We are more experienced, so they must respect us a bit more, listen a bit more. I had to do the same when I was starting out.”

Making matters even worse for Neymar was video footage emerging on social media, which appeared to show him striking a fan during the final.

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar appeared to strike a supporter following the club’s shock Coupe de France defeat against Rennes in the final.

PSG have now embarked on their worst campaign under their Qatari owners after winning just the Ligue 1 title.
