The trio of Messi, Suarez and Griezmann delighted fans as they got on the score sheet during Los Bermellones 5-2 thrashing at the Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi is not going anywhere. He could not remove confusions regarding his retirement plans but gave a good account of his inhuman abilities with his 35th La Liga hat-trick.

If his form continues in this fashion, Messi will be adding to his sixth Ballon d’Or gong. With Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann playing in supporting cast, a seventh award is more likely than ever.

And it seems Ernesto Valverde has unlocked the method to playing the three together. Especially Griezmann with Messi. Against Mallorca, the trio were devastating. Barcelona managed 22 shots on goal, as they played with the visitors defense.

It was Messi’s goal scoring exploits that took the highlights and much media attention. The Argentine is not stopping anytime soon. His rough start to the season is behind him, and it is showing in Barcelona’s victories.

But neither are his fellow henchman. And it is in Griezmann’s recent form that needs to be taken into consideration. Especially against Mallorca.

Griezmann adapts

The Frenchman is finally adapting to life at the Camp Nou. He opened the scoring with Mallorca still finding their gears.

Ten minutes after getting on the score sheet, he would go on to lay down Messi for his first of the night. The duo combined perfectly to bring Mallorca defenders out of position before the Argentine slotted home.

Griezmann was understandably pleased with his performance. Just like his more established teammate, the former Atletico Madrid forward was unplayable.

“We wanted to have a good game,” Griezmann remarked after the match. “The first half was very good and we connected a lot, before we managed time more in the second half.”

“It was a great game from Messi and Suarez and we’re happy with the victory and we have to continue like this. There will be better matches, we’re going to connect even better as we still don’t fully know each other.”

“There are movements I have to learn. At Atletico Madrid, I knew that I had to do one movement or another. Here, I don’t know 100 percent. In matches, training and video sessions I’m learning and improving.”

Griezmann’s outing was a signal to the rest of La Liga. Regular playing time has helped his confidence and the express forward is rapidly in sync with Valverde’s plans.

Soon he will be at his devastating best and it will be a joy to behold for fans and neutrals alike.

The 28 year old will be in action against Inter Milan next. With UEFA Champions League knockout rounds qualification secured, the pressure will be off Barcelona players.

However, anything less than a win would bring back detractors. Antoine Griezmann has worked hard to put them off his trail, and the world cup winner will be gunning for another express outing.
