The Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona match, will be the last chance that Antoine Griezmann will get to make his case for the Ballon d’Or.

There literally will be no tomorrow for Antoine Griezmann and his case to win the Ballon d’Or, the Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona match is his final exam before the award is given during the first week of December.

The main arguments coming from Spain are two very different, one is in favor of Antoine winning the award, and the other one is completely against him.

The people who don’t think he can win it argue that the Europa League success is not enough for him to make a proper case, being a lesser competition compared to the Champions League that players such as Raphael Varane or Luka Modric did win this year.

The Atletico Madrid forward did win the World Cup with France last summer, but he isn’t even getting the expected support from his own country as there have been several authorized voices that place the Real Madrid defender ahead of him in the voting.

Even Michel Platini confirmed that he would vote for Varane ahead of Griezmann, this leaves the Colchoneros as the only support that Antoine has been getting to win the award.

Once we get to understand how the whole situation has developed since the World Cup ended, it’s easier to understand why Griezmann has been campaigning so hard to support himself as the worthy candidate to win the Ballon d’Or.

This is how we cut to this Saturday at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, where Antoine will have the ultimate test against a player who is already considered Ballon d’Or royalty and may not even be in the podium this year.

The Colchoneros with Griezmann as their leader, will face against Lionel Messi’s FC Barcelona in one of the most exciting La Liga matches of the season so far.

Leo doesn’t really have a chance to win the individual award since he didn’t win any of the biggest trophies last season, but he does have a chance to spoil the prize for Griezmann if the Catalan club defeats Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.

Opinion: The biggest misconception about Pep Guardiola

Now that Pep Guardiola has lost his chance to win a Champions League for the sixth consecutive time, we need to debunk a misconception...

Antoine knows how important this match will be for him, as he knows that playing one of the best matches of his professional career is exactly what he needs to do in order to convince the people who doubt him once and for all.

Griezmann himself has been a constant target for the press after he stated that he deserves to sit on the same table as Messi or Ronaldo, this match will be the perfect opportunity for him to prove it.

Also, the French forward will have to prove that his decision to stay in Atletico Madrid was the right one to all the Colchoneros.

The man is facing the very same club that pushed really hard to sign him during the summer, only to get a negative response from him after practically accepting on a shocking deal.

There is a lot of Barcelona fans who hated the way in which Griezmann treated the club, they would like to get some revenge for rejecting them and this could be the perfect way to get it.

The whole scenario is set for a fantastic night, one that should bring us some of the best football we could ever enjoy between two of the most powerful clubs in European football today.

This game will also clash two vastly different styles, that are immensely different but have proven to be just as effective.
