Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has got any concerns over splitting his playing time with “idol” Gianluigi Buffon

Manager Thomas Tuchel continues to refuse naming a clear number one between the pair at PSG.

This is despite Buffon’s status as an all-time great with Areola starting nine of PSG’s 16 Ligue 1 games this season.

The France international, who rose through the club’s youth ranks, remains a big part of their plans and was awarded a new contract until 2023 this week.

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed reports stating that Neymar could make a return for Sunday's showdown against AS Monaco

“It was a nice gesture from the club, now it’s up to me to repay their confidence,” said Areola, according to Football-Italia.

“Right now I’m happy with what’s going on, Gigi has always been my idol and now I have the chance to train with him, so I can only improve.”

PSG will face Nantes today for their final game of 2018 in Ligue 1 with kick-off set for 21:00 (CET).
