Marko Arnautovic has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s latest record-breaking exploits by claiming the Portuguese and Lionel Messi aren’t human.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ‘come from a different planet’, says Marko Arnautovic.
The 32-year-old, who has scored one goal in three Euro 2020 matches for Austria this summer, was questioned about Ronaldo equaling Ali Daei’s record for the most goals in men’s international football during a press conference.
But Arnautovic, like many others before him, was simply lost for words. The forward instead suggested what Ronaldo has achieved in his career isn’t human, even claiming the Portugal captain and Messi are from another world.
“When it comes to Ronaldo, we’re not talking about a human being. What more can I say about him?” said the former West Ham striker.
“For me, they are two players who come from a different planet. They have come from somewhere completely different.
“They have arrived here for a short time to stir up all the leagues and competitions, taken all the trophies with them and then quit.
“That’s him and Lionel Messi.”
Ronaldo hopes to score his 110th international goal in Portugal’s last-16 tie with Belgium in Euro 2020 on Sunday.
