Soares will sign for Arsenal this January but might not make his debut until two weeks.

As we reported yesterday, Soares is expected to complete a move to Arsenal today but might see his debut delayed for a while.

According to Talksport, the 28-year-old is nursing an injury that will keep him on the sidelines till the middle of February.

Soares will join Arsenal on loan till the end of the season after which he will be a free agent at the expiration of his Southampton contract.

Mikel Arteta has made his intent on defensive stability known after securing the signing of Pablo Mari yesterday.

It is bad news for the Gunners considering Calum Chambers, Kieran Tierney, Sead Kolasinac and Shkodran Mustafi are all on the sidelines as well due to injury.

Mikel Arteta would be counting on new signing Pablo Mari to step up and ease with the squad quickly – as the Gunners lack options in defence.

All things going well, Soares is in line to make his Arsenal debut on the 20th of February when the Gunners travel to Greece to face Olympiakos in the Europa League.
