Arsenal survived going two goals down to Standard Liege to come back a draw 2-2 and finish at the top of Europa League Group F.

It appeared that Arsenal was back to their old ways when they went two goals down to Standard Liege.

The first half was all square at nil-nil.

Caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg would have probably been quite happy, given his injury crisis.

But the hosts came out on fire in the second half, and Bastien gave Liege the lead only two minutes after the restart.

His shot cannoned of Arsenal defender Sokratis and left keeper Martinez wrong-footed.

The goal gave the Belgian side confidence, something that the Gummers were obviously lacking.

22 minutes later they capitalized on the visitor’s nerves and double their lead.

Again it came via a deflection. Amallah’s shot ricocheted off Mavropanos, 2-0 Standard Liege led with a little over 20 minutes to go.

Liege needed the win to qualify, while Arsenal needed it to top the group.

Almost out of nowhere, the North London club seemed to find some fight.

In three minutes of madness, Lacazette and Saka reined the game back in.

In the 78th minute, Lacazette sneaked in between two defenders to meet Saka’s cross and power the header home.

The goal fired up Arsenal and they went in search of the crucial equalizer.

They didn’t have to wait long, It was the 81st minute that Saka completed the comeback.

Saka picked up the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a wicked curling shot.

Final score: Standard Liege 2 – 2 Arsenal.
