The agent of centre-back Caglar Soyuncu has claimed that Arsenal have held “concrete talks” with Freiburg over a possible transfer this summer, but are yet to agree on a deal
Mustafa Dogru has claimed that the Gunners’ head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has been keeping a close watch on his client and insisted that Arsenal have now expressed an interest in signing the Turkey international.
“Sven is interested in Caglar — there are concrete talks, and all that remains is for a fee to be agreed,” Dogru told Turkish Football.
“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu that we are in talks with. There is also interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain and a few clubs in France, Italy and Germany.
“I’m not surprised by the interest — Caglar is a modern defender, he’s mobile, fast, dual-footed, has an excellent passing range.
“He’s tough and very physical, and I think the Premier League is ideal for a defender with his attributes.”
The 22-year-old could be joining fellow centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos after a cut-price deal was reportedly agreed between Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for the veteran defender.
Right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner became Unai Emery’s first signing at the club when he joined from Juventus on a free transfer.
