Kieran Tierney is a long sought after target for Arsenal and Charlie Nicholas seems confident that the young Scot is going to come to England this summer.
Kieran Tierney is perhaps one of the rising stars of Scottish football. Following the emergence of Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney is expected to make a move from Celtic in a bid to further his playing career.
And the youngster clearly has all it takes to become one of the best left-backs on the planet. Charlie Nicholas, considered a legend at Arsenal, feels that Kieran Tierney is going to come to England.
Arsenal have already had one bid rejected but the Gunners are keen on mounting another bid for the youngster.
Charlie Nicholas says that the youngster is bound to improve a lot at Arsenal.
“The stories I’m hearing here in Glasgow is that he might be keen to move on to the bigger league, if that’s really what it’s about, the bigger league,” he told the Transfer Talk podcast as reported by The Express.
“Would that make him a better player? Probably.
“There is a question mark about his defensive frailties but then again he would be an improvement for Arsenal, there’s no doubt in my mind about that.”
“Kieran Tierney is a fabulous footballer,” he added.
“But he’s got a lot to learn defensively and that’s the issue in value.
“So I think if Celtic got £20m they would take it.
“And I think Arsenal would be relatively pleased with that.”
Kieran Tierney has already made 170 appearances for Celtic and with so much experience already, he is bound to be a major improvement. And with Nacho Monreal not really the sort of player he used to be, Tierney would be an excellent upgrade.
Unai Emery hasn’t been given a lot of budget to work with this summer. However, it would be safe to spend a good part of the budget on a player like Kieran Tierney who represents the club’s future.
