After a brilliant playing career, Emannuel Petit is now enjoying his retirement and following the Premier League.

Arsenal and Manchester United will clash today in this fixture’s derby.

Both teams had their rough moments in the season, as well as a couple of bright spots.

However, Arsenal seems to be on the rise, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer facing heavy pressure to deliver results for Manchester United.

The Gunners look like a more cohesive unit at the moment, especially after mid-week League Cup matches.

Arsenal routinely beat Nottingham Forest 5-0, while Manchester United needed penalties to get through Rochdale at Old Trafford.

Both teams have top-four ambitions, and they will inevitably be each other’s competitor throughout the season.

Among the talks of getting a new striker, Solskjaer is facing some serious injury issues, which sees his main striking option, Anthony Martial out for this match, as well as doubtful Paul Pogba, team’s most valuable player.

On the other end, Arsenal and Emery are preparing for United in a good mood.

Emery’s side is on a three-match winning streak in all competitions, including last week’s big win at home with 10 men against Aston Villa.

Emmanuel Petit gave his outlook on this match. Petit himself was part of this big rivalry in his tenure at Arsenal from 1997 to 2000.

In an interview with PaddyPower, he said:

“Since Alex Ferguson left I don’t recognise Man United any more. They should scare their opponents – they haven’t done that for a long time.

“I’m very surprised about this, because they’ve been spending so much money. Yet the profile of the players is not what Man United expect – especially when it comes to the fans and former players.”

When asked about the prediction for the derby, Petit added:

“You just don’t know what to expect from this fixture. Arsenal have been thrashed by Liverpool, though Man United aren’t on that level. That said, you’d think Arsenal have a very good opportunity to win at Old Trafford.

“They need a win away from home, as they’ve been dropping points so easily on the road. this match is very important for them, and it’s a good time to be playing Man United.

“There will be open spaces behind the United backline and with the speed of Arsenal’s forwards, they’ll get chances. But they need to show defensive resilience to allow for that to happen. Arsenal have a good chance to win.”

The match is scheduled to take place at 21:00 CET.
