Arsenal nearing William Saliba signing

William Saliba is on the verge of becoming an Arsenal player after it was revealed that the Gunners have reached an agreement with the teenage defender.

After being frustrated by multiple targets, Willaim Saliba may give Arsenal a great start to their summer transfer window operations. The youngster, currently under contract with Ligue 1 outfit AS Saint-Etienne, is reportedly close to securing a move to Arsenal.

Indeed, should the transfer go ahead, it would be a major coup for the London side. Foot Mercato claims that Saliba has already agree a five-year deal with the Gunners. Manchester City were also reportedly interested in the youngster but it appears that Arsenal have won the race.

The France Under-19 international is definitely going to be a great addition to a squad that has always seem to have a defensive crisis to deal with.

Last season, Shkodran Mustafi could not go two games without making an error. Laurent Koscielny on the other hand, spent more time on the treatment table.

Therefore, it is important for the Gunners to be on the lookout for players who might not cost a lot but will also become regular fixtures in the starting XI next season.
