Arsenal are set to honour Arsene Wenger with a statue outside the Emirates Stadium, according to reports from The Athletic.

Arsene Wenger is set to see a statue dedicated to him outside the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman enjoyed the greatest success of his career in north London, winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups in a 22-year spell.

Wenger has been credited with changing the face of English football, with his focus in attractive football, nurturing young talent and managing a club with the stringiest of budgets.

It is now being claimed that the Gunner’s hierarchy are considering a bronze statue for the former Arsenal manager.

The Athletic’s Handbrake Off podcast report that the construction of the statue has started, with plans also considered to name a stand after Wenger alongside.

The same podcast also reports that the club are planning to bring Wenger back to the club in some capacity during pre-season. This would only be as part of celebrations to coincide with unveiling of his statue.

This is a decision that has had the backing of Arsenal Supporters around the globe with some even asking for the stadium to be named after the Frenchman.

Since leaving the club in 2017/18, Wenger has gone on to work in FIFA where he heads up global football development.
