Lucas Torriera might be leaving the Gunners after spending just one season in London after it was reported that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers.
Lucas Torreira has been attracting a lot of interest from Italy after admitting that he misses the country. Originally signed from Sampdoria last summer, the Uruguay international has become a fan favourite at the Emirates.
In an otherwise dismal season for the Gunners, Lucas Torreira was a rare bright spot. But since the midfielder is unsettled at the club, Arsenal are reportedly considering to allow him to leave.
While Unai Emery isn’t too keen on selling such an important member of the squad, the Spaniard may not have a choice. The former Seville manager has been asked to work on a shoestring budget. Furthermore, selling players is the only way to raise cash.
According to The Daily Star, the Gunners might raise a lot of money if they decided to part ways with the 23 year old.
According to Italian journalist Vito Angele, Torreira is keen on joining Milan. At San Siro, he is going to link up with his former manager Marco Giampaoli. The Gunners want at least €45 million for the combative midfielder and Angele says that Lucas Torreira has many reasons behind his desire to leave.
“I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy,” he said.
“I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.
“The language [barrier] has cost me, to be able to relate with my peers and with the people. It is very difficult when you can’t have dialogue.
“And so is the climate. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you arrive late to your home and it is cloudy.”
And with the club also keen on signing Wilfried Zaha and Kieran Tierney, sacrificing Torreira might prove to be a risk worth taking.
