Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira out with a broken ankle

Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira has been confirmed as an injury absence after it was revealed he has suffered a broken ankle.

Uruguayan international Torreira was substituted after only 16 minutes during the Gunners’ FA Cup clash with Portsmouth.

Pompey’s  James Bolton put in a strong challenge. It left the 24-year-old midfielder on the floor in what clearly some serious pain.

Arsenal’s official club website arsenal.com confirmed the extent of the injury. But they have yet to confirm the length of time the player will be out.

The statement said:

“Lucas Torreira sustained a fracture to the right ankle during Portsmouth (a) on Monday.”

“We are awaiting further specialist reviews which will determine a recovery plan.” 

The former Sampdoria player, joins Calum Chambers, Sead Kolasinac, and Cedric Soares on the treatment table.

Torreira posted to his social media account a recent work out video.

You can clearly see the player is wearing a protective boot on the right leg.
