Arsene Wenger has insisted that Mikel Arteta has all the qualities for the managerial role.

Pressure on Unai Emery appears to continue to build on. Arsenal are unable to shake off their recent bad string of performances. Despite being backed by the club, Unai Emery himself knows he does not have a lot of time to make a statement.

A number of options are being lined up to replace the Spaniard at the Emirates Stadium. One of them is Mikel Arteta. Mikel Arteta, who captained Arsenal to a couple of FA Cup wins, is currently an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the 37-year old is eligible to take the Gunners’ reins. Arsene Wenger feels that Arteta is aware of the club’s strengths and weaknesses. But the 70-year also revealed that he would be glad with whatever decision the club takes.

“For Arteta, does he have all the qualities to do the job? Yes,” Arsene Wenger said talking to BeinSport.

“He was a leader and he has a good passion for the game and he knows the club well.

“He knows what is important at the club and he was captain of the club. So why not? But whoever they choose I will support,” the Frenchman claimed.
