Mikel Arteta is impressed with Pablo Mari’s performance during Arsenal’s match against West Ham.

Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench and quickly got on the scoresheet to guide Arsenal to a 1-0 victory in their last night’s Premier League match against West Ham.

Much of the spotlight was on the Pablo Mari, who was handed his league debut by Mikel Arteta. Mari arrived at the Emirates in January on a season-long loan deal in order to help put an end to Arsenal’s defensive woes.

And the former Flamengo man seems to have understood his role well as he put on a good shift while playing a crucial role in helping the Gunners get a clean sheet.

Speaking after the match, Mikel Arteta was thrilled to see his new signing adapting well to his new surroundings.

“I think he was very good and in the first half. He took a few moments to sort out what he needed to do,” Arteta said, as the club’s website reports.

“He’s brave, he’s willing, he’s impressive without the ball and he has a presence. He is very vocal around his team even if he’s only been two days here. But he has that ability and that character. I’m really pleased with him.

“He’s doing well, he’s adapting really well.”
