Mikel Arteta is hoping Alexandre Lacazette can regain his confidence after ending his goalless run against Newcastle.

Arsenal put on a brilliant display last night as they dismantled Newcastle United to sweep all three points in the Premier League.

All of Arsenal’s goals came in the second half of the match.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang started the show before Nicolas Pepe and Mesut Ozil piled on in the scoresheet. Finally, in the dying minutes, Alexandre Lacazette rounded off a ruthless 4-0 victory for his side.

Prior to the taking to the pitch last night, Lacazette was on a nine-match goalless run. He also faced heavy criticism for being indecisive in the final third of the pitch as of late.

After the match, Mikel Arteta expressed his satisfaction after seeing the Frenchman finally get on the scoresheet.

“I’m so pleased for Laca – the reaction of the players and staff towards him,” he told BBC.

“He fights hard for everyone. He’s been unlucky. He will gain confidence from this and knows how everyone appreciates him.”

Alexandre Lacazette also posted a message on Twitter saying that he wanted to thank his fans for their support. It read:

“Missed that scoring feeling. Thank you to everyone for your support and celebrations, feels so good to [be] back.”
