Mikel Arteta has left the door for Mesut Ozil’s departure after failing to provide any assurances over his future at Arsenal.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was yet again missing from the team sheet for the North London derby on the weekend.
Ozil’s future has become a subject of intense speculations due to his absence from the squad over the past few weeks.
He has failed to make a single appearance ever since the resumption of football. What’s even more surprising is the fact that the club’s highest earner has been left out of the squad entirely, except on two occasions, since June, apparently due to a back problem.
Mikel Arteta was previously asked about Ozil’s future in the team, with him insisting that a player of his caliber always has a place in the Arsenal squad.
Following the 2-1 defeat against Tottenham last night, Arteta was once again asked to comment on the German’s future at the club.
“He is still in the same positions he was last week or two weeks ago,” the Gunners boss replied, as Goal reports.
“We said we will manage everything internally. I have nothing to say.”
