Mikel Arteta is hoping that Arsenal can help fulfill Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s expectations to convince him to stay at the club.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again gave a statement of his importance as he scored twice to help Arsenal walk collect all three points against Everton.
With last night’s brace, the 30-year old upped his goal count to 17 while going level with the league’s best scorer Jamie Vardy.
Aubameyang had been linked with a move away from the Emirates in the past. In January too, numerous clubs, including Barcelona, were interested in signing him.
The Gabonese international is tied to the club until the end of the next season. But after his performance against Everton, Mikel Arteta says he is eager to extend his stay at Arsenal.
“I’m so happy with him,” Arteta told BBC.
“Hopefully we can convince him this is the right place to be. I think it’s been tough for him because he has big expectations. He wants to play in the biggest competitions and with the best players. We have to help him do that. He needs to feel fulfilled.
“He is our most important player, no doubt the impact he has in this team. We will have to convince him to stay with us.”
