In a very difficult match for FC Barcelona, Aritz Aduriz came in during the last minutes of the match to score the winner for Athletic.

Athletic striker Aritz Aduriz wasn’t sure if he was willing to play another season with his club, he didn’t even start the match against FC Barcelona this Friday.

The Spanish La Liga kicked off today with one of the most exciting matches that we could possibly ask for, Aduriz waited for the last minutes of the game in order to get on the pitch and decide the result in spectacular fashion.

Players like him deserve all the recognition in the world, the faithful who never give up on the club of their lives.

There is no other way to look at this, Aritz already made the decision to retire from football and nothing will change his mind.

But he did want to get one last ride with the Lions, and he clearly made the best decision.

Today’s kick-off match against FC Barcelona was arguably the most complicated test for them, but they always have the new San Mames Stadium to support them no matter what.

The Catalan club won the previous 10 consecutive initial matches of every season, this record was bound to be broken sooner or later.

The climate for FC Barcelona is just as strange as it is for Real Madrid, both clubs seem way too distracted with the chance of signing Neymar.

Luis Suarez suffers a fresh injury.

The first half gave us several surprises, manager Ernesto Valverde decided to leave Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets on the bench.

The other controversial decision was to leave Philippe Coutinho out of the squad because he reached a loan agreement with Bayern Munich, but the Barça fans were confident with the squad they had.

The problem is that Luis Suarez didn’t even finish the first half of the game after suffering a calf injury, he nearly scored a goal right after feeling the pain but his shot went straight to the post.

Before the 40th minute, he had to leave the pitch and gave Rafinha a chance to play from that moment forward.

This is another unexpected development in Barcelona’s new season, Luis will have to undergo medical tests and see how serious his issue really is.

Regardless of this new setback, the Catalan club kept trying to score goals during the second half.

Antoine Griezmann proved that he needs a little more time in order to adapt, Frenkie de Jong also proved that he doesn’t function equally when he doesn’t have Sergio Busquets near him.

This squad is considerably weaker without Lionel Messi, especially when they play an away match.

Aduriz scores a beauty to kick-off La Liga.

The second half gave us several moments in which the local squad was close to getting the first goal, but they only relied on what could happen in a counter-attack.

The match really seemed like it would end in a goalless draw, but Aduriz was given only a few minutes to play before the final whistle.

This is all the time he needed, it took him two minutes to make his impact on the game. As the Athletic midfielders completed a prepared side throw, Aduriz was getting ready inside the box without having made contact with the ball yet.

Capa saw him making the movement in the heart of the box and sent him a precise cross from the far right.

What Aritz did at that moment froze time and space for half a second, he performed a perfect overhead kick with the first ball he touched and handed FC Barcelona their first defeat in 11 years during La Liga’s opening match.

The new San Mames surrendered to their legendary veteran, there is no better way to start your retirement season than with this type fo goal.

FC Barcelona has a lot of work to do if they want to improve, Athletic showed their weaknesses from day one.
