Time to discuss the most important movements that Atletico Madrid will make during the summer transfer window, the busiest in recent history.
The summer transfer window wasn’t supposed to get too busy for Atletico Madrid, but things have taken a drastic turn in the last few weeks.
The Colchoneros started what appeared like a very promising season, their ultimate goal was to reach the UEFA Champions League final at their own stadium next Saturday.
They took a massive blow after Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus eliminated them from the competition.
Something very similar happened in La Liga against Lionel Messi’s FC Barcelona just a few weeks later.
It was clear that this year wouldn’t be the one they expected, but what came after that was even more surprising for all the Atletico Madrid fans.
Many of the players who were considered legends of the club started announcing their departures, this left the squad with a very large to-do list for the summer transfer window.
Manager Diego Simeone was contradicted several times about the future of many of his players throughout the whole season.
The coach first denied that Lucas Hernandez would leave the institution, the French player announced that he was playing at Bayern Munich next season.
The gaffer then said that Diego Godin would stay at the club at least for one more year, the Uruguay international also announced his departure.
This suddenly became a trend at the club.

Atletico Madrid’s imminent and possible exits.
After both Hernandez and Godin said they were going to leave, these two exits were the ones that pushed Antoine Griezmann into making his own announcement.
The French international had just signed a new contract with the Colchoneros last summer but he realized that he would struggle to win more trophies in the next few years.
The World Cup champion wants to live a successful period at club level during the best years of his career.
Antoine still has a good four years of highly competitive football left in him, which is why he made the difficult decision to leave club next summer.
Griezmann was the best player that the Colchoneros had and he wasn’t supposed to leave this soon, the manager is suddenly forced to make several adjustments.
This new exit from the club has also pushed other key players to possibly leave next season.
The names that are currently being mentioned are Rodrigo, Saul Niguez, and Thomas Partey.
However, there could be more players who got discouraged by this lack of key players in the squad and may want to leave as well.
On the bright side, selling several players this season will bring a lot of money for Simeone to bring many new transfers to the club.

Atletico Madrid’s possible arrivals.
We only know about two specific players who could come to Atletico Madrid next summer, the many exits could end up being more positive than expected.
Manager Diego Simeone has been looking for several great players for many seasons and this could be his opportunity to bring them to the squad.
We will start with the ones that seem closer to the club than others. The first one is Mexican midfielder, Hector Herrera.
The FC Porto player was reportedly spotted in Madrid for the Champions League final, but Marca reported that he was also there to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid.
The other player who is close to making the permanent trip to Spanish football is Edinson Cavani, the PSG striker is an ideal player for Atletico Madrid.
Other names that are currently being analyzed by Diego Simeone are James Rodriguez from Bayern Munich, Lautaro Martinez from Internazionale Milano, Iñaki Williams from Atheltic Club, Mario Hermoso from Espanyol, Joao Felix from Benfica, and Richarlison from Everton.
All of these players are only options but nothing has been confirmed yet. What we can confirm is that the Colchoneros will probably have their busiest summer in history.
